As part of the Neighborhood by Neighborhood, NYC & Company, the marketing and tourism office in the city of New York, announced that Lower Manhattan is the third destination to promote.

This initiative was designed to increase the flow of tourists and support local businesses, encouraging visits in the areas that fall outside the traditional tourist routes in different districts.

According to the Downtown Alliance, more than nine million tourists have visited the area to see the New York Stock Exchange, Wall Street walk and visit the Memorial 9/11, but the neighborhood is also a place chosen by the tourists to shop, eat and stay.

The CEO of NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta, said that «Lower Manhattan is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the city and in the last ten years it has become a hub of world-class dining, shopping, nightlife and attractions as well as home to some of the most important historical sites in the nation. »

In it are 19 hotels with approximately 4,500 rooms, nine of these hotels were opened after 2006.

Lower Manhattan is home to the U.S. financial center and includes the neighborhoods south of Chambers Street, for example, the Financial District and Battery Park City, reports the newspaper La Vanguardia.

The Lower Manhattan is easily accessible through more than 12 subway lines and PATH trains, making it one of the most easily accessible neighborhoods of the city for tourists and New Yorkers.

The area is the only independent museum in the country dedicated to American economic history, American Finance Museum has interactive exhibits and historical artifacts related to Wall Street. The Jewish Heritage Museum honors those who lost their lives during the Holocaust, and offers visitors multiple perspectives on the history, life and modern Jewish culture.

On the other hand, the Skyscraper Museum, located in the popular Battery Park City, celebrates the rich architectural heritage of the city of New York as the birthplace of modern skyscrapers.

Tourists may also use Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises, Hornblower Cruises & Events, New York Water Taxi and Statue Cruises to enjoy the views along the Hudson River and the East River, including some of the best views of the Statue of Liberty .
