Qatar open in April first phase of modern international airport

With a total investment of U.S. $ 15.5 billion, Qatar ready to launch preparations in April, the first phase of the new Hamad International Airport, which will be operated by the national airline Qatar Airways.

The transition team recruitment and Hamad Airport and Civil Aviation Authority of Qatar reported that 12 international airlines, including several low cost, the new airport will be releasing on April 1.

The modern airport has capacity to serve 28 million passengers a year, growing to 50 million after 2015.

In the second half of the year, Qatar Airways will move all its operations to the airport Hamad, who until recently was known under the project name «New Doha International Airport.»

The airline said it will work closely with the first airlines in the Hamad established to ensure a smooth transition from the current operations at Doha International Airport, the capital, which will have dual airport operations until operations begin at the new total installation, in the second half of 2013. Work began in 2005.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker, described 2013 as «a historic year» for Qatar, for the airline and aviation industry to the country’s young.

«This will be a world-class facility that promises to put our nation even further in the international arena. Later this year, Qatar Airways will move its operations to Hamad International Airport, where all the rooms will be ready and operational by that time «, she said.

Qatar Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, along with the neighboring Etihad and Emirates, has seen only 16 years an accelerated growth of its operations. Currently flies a fleet of 118 aircraft to 123 destinations for business and leisure class in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Pacific and the Americas
