JetBlue will add nonstop flight from San Juan to Washington

JetBlue continues its expansion in Puerto Rican soil, with a new nonstop service toReagan National Airport in Washington, D. C., from the Luis Munoz Marin InternationalAirport in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.

In a statement Gov. Luis Fortuño has indicated that «the new direct service JetBluebetween San Juan and Washington D. C. strengthens the position of Puerto Rico as a link preferably in the Caribbean. These new flights between the two capital cities will expand our offerings of air transport and inject more competition to market. »

For her part, Nicole Guillemard, executive director of the Office of Federal Affairs Puerto Rico (PRFAA), explained that his agency collected more than 500 letters of support for the new service the Department of Transportation federal considered when making yourdecision. Several private and public entities in Puerto Rico submitted letters of supportfor the service, including it Associationof Hotels and Tourism, the Chamber of Commerce, the Manufacturers Association, the Government Development Bank, the State Department, the Department of Economic Development and Trade and several local companies and others.

The new service joins other JetBlue introduced inthe island during the past years andwhich have become the largest airline operator in the island Enel 2011, the airlineannounced new flights to St. Thomas, St. Croix and San Martin, and additional flights toJacksonville, Tampa and Boston.
